Spiritbumps

Frederic’s list of spiritbump quotes
Huh? What are spiritbumps?

Spiritbumps are remarkably similar to regular goosebumps and they are as visceral as goosebumps as well. The only difference between goosebumps and spiritbumps is that spiritbumps are feeling really, really good.

Spiritbumps come in the form of not just the tiny hairs on your arms standing to attention, but literally sparkling with ecstasy, each and every single one of them.

Spiritbumps usually move around and go up and down your body, like you are being bathed in feelings of well-being, joy and ecstasy: A feeling of living energy wrapping and surrounding you in its (all-)loving embrace like a warm, soft blanket. Goosebumps on the other hands are stationary and, well, goosebumps. Nothing more to them.

Spiritbumps are more pronounced version of the energetic, vibrating feelings that curse through your physical body when you are in a prolonged state of joy, bliss or love (i.e. not just “fun” or “joy”, but “JOY!!” and “FUN!!”).

Spiritbumps sometimes don’t even feel like spiritbumps. This is the case when you are in the gaze of someone that is really appreciating you. Sometimes you don’t even notice that, until you just can’t help but smile and be loving to all-that-is for no reason you can find (other than maybe someone really appreciating you, of course).

Spiritbumps often happen only once per new insight, only once per new idea. Usually when you have just thought, felt or done something so right, so true, so real, so your (higher) self that your inner being just can’t help but applaud (kinda like you train dogs with treats). Of course you can still completely forget about previous incidences of spiritbumps (in other words: You didn’t get or learn the lesson fully). In this case they happen again when the situation and your state of being is right again.

Spiritbumps show up whenever you really appreciate something or someone. When you are madly and completely in love with someone and you appreciate the person fully and completely for all who s-he is, for all s-he is about, for the whole of their being and the person does the same with you in that very moment, that’s when it often feels like butterflies going on a wild rampage in your belly. It’s when (and because) you are fully appreciating a person, a thing or no thing really. Appreciation is all that’s needed. It’s much closer to the natural state of being you started out from as well.

Be bold, add your own

Anyhow, after this short introduction the actual idea for this page is to add the quotes I find and come up with that caused spiritbumps to occur for me (the part where the spiritbumps occurred is marked by using bold letters).

Of course what might bring me spiritbumps might not bring them for you and what brings them for you might not bring them for me. That’s because we are all on different paths and thus ideas that have the quality of insights for me might be “so what?”s for you and vice versa.

Either way, have fun finding and reading the quotes that do it for you, and if you wish, add quotes of your own in the comments.

Steve Jobs on “You’ve got to find what you love”:

Reed College at that time offered perhaps the best calligraphy instruction in the country. Throughout the campus every poster, every label on every drawer, was beautifully hand calligraphed. Because I had dropped out and didn’t have to take the normal classes, I decided to take a calligraphy class to learn how to do this. I learned about serif and san serif typefaces, about varying the amount of space between different letter combinations, about what makes great typography great. It was beautiful, historical, artistically subtle in a way that science can’t capture, and I found it fascinating.

None of this had even a hope of any practical application in my life. But ten years later, when we were designing the first Macintosh computer, it all came back to me. And we designed it all into the Mac. It was the first computer with beautiful typography. If I had never dropped in on that single course in college, the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts. And since Windows just copied the Mac, its likely that no personal computer would have them. If I had never dropped out, I would have never dropped in on this calligraphy class, and personal computers might not have the wonderful typography that they do. Of course it was impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was in college. But it was very, very clear looking backwards ten years later.

Again, you can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.

I would put it more like this:
All the mind can do is look backwards into the past, search for the dots and find meaning and string together single situations into the chain of events of how things came about. It is only your higher self that knows the shortest route to anything you’ve ever wanted (like you would be rummaging through the thick jungle in a valley while your higher self is guiding you from the mountain top). Spiritbumps are visceral guidance as well.

Frederic:

A playground created from pure positive where you have so much freedom you can even choose bondage, where you can create anything from that positive energy everything is created from, even an illusion of things sinister and evil that are so vivid to the believer, that they can become his reality.

Now THAT is one superb & magnifi-scient monster playground ! :)

Frederic:

“Ego” is neither good or bad. Ego is only the accumulation of how you trained your physical mind, your way of thinking and judging.

Ego is the part that perceives to be in and acts (out) the illusion your inner being creates for it.
